Seoul, South Korea – Hyundai Motor Company has appointed Don Romano as president and chief executive officer of its Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters, reinforcing the region’s strategic importance to the global automaker.
Romano will retain his role as president and CEO of Hyundai Australia, continuing to oversee both the Hyundai and Genesis brands while splitting his time between Sydney and Jakarta.
He joined Hyundai Motor Company Australia in March 2025, following a decade as president and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada, where the brand recorded sustained sales and profit growth.
His first year in Australia delivered strong results, with Hyundai sales increasing 7.7 per cent year-on-year and Genesis growing 14.4 per cent.
He also led Genesis’ retail transformation, including the opening of two new Sydney Showcases and the brand’s first Agency partnership with CKD Automotive.
“As I take on this new responsibility in Asia Pacific, I am filled with both purpose and optimism,” said Romano.
Asia Pacific spans 32 markets, including Malaysia, Australia, the Philippines, and Thailand, with manufacturing operations in Indonesia, Vietnam, and Singapore.
He added, “This region is dynamic, diverse, and full of untapped potential. Together with the teams in every Asia Pacific market, we will embrace and foster innovation, collaboration, people development, and a global mindset. It is an honour to be appointed to the role, and I look forward to leading Hyundai Motor Asia Pacific to a strong and sustainable future.”
