Chagee brews global expansion with largest global flagship opening in Hong Kong

Hong Kong – Chinese tea chain Chagee has opened its world’s largest flagship store on Lee Tung Street, Wan Chai, marking its seventh outlet in Hong Kong and underscoring the city’s role as both a retail and cultural hub.

“Over the past year, Chagee has achieved rapid growth in the Hong Kong market, reflecting consumers’ pursuit of high-quality tea beverages and their belief [in] the brand’s philosophy,” said Rex Ho, general manager of Hong Kong and Macau.

Chagee has expanded swiftly since entering Hong Kong in 2024, with seven stores already and plans for more than ten additional outlets.

“We are optimistic about the growth potential of the Hong Kong market, and we believe that as a platform for international cultural exchange, Hong Kong can help Chagee better share tea culture with consumers from around the world,” Ho explained.

Chagee’s decision underscores how Hong Kong’s position as a gateway between Mainland China and international markets has become central to Chagee’s global expansion plans.

“Therefore, we decided to establish our world’s largest flagship store in Hong Kong and will continue to invest resources to promote the inheritance and innovation of tea culture,” Ho added.

The Wan Chai flagship spans more than 11,000 square feet over two levels, offering a mix of retail and immersive cultural experiences that merge traditional tea art with modern lifestyles.

“Chagee’s decision to establish its largest flagship store in Hong Kong is a testament to the city’s crucial role as a bridge connecting the Mainland and international markets,” said Loretta Lee, associate director-general of investment promotion at InvestHK.

Chagee, which has more than 7,000 stores worldwide, including in China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the United States, is brewing in Hong Kong as a vital stage for its global ambitions.

“We look forward to continuing to support Chagee in its global expansion through Hong Kong,” Lee added.
