Australia — Australian-based marketing company, Mortar Group, has merged with the Adelaide-based development firm, Firehouse Technology, to create a new entity called Mortar Tech.
The merger aims to expand Mortar Group’s global presence by strengthening its capacity to develop proprietary technology solutions for clients. While Mortar Group had its own development teams, the addition of Firehouse is said to significantly increase the scope of its services.
With this, Mortar Tech will now focus on designing, building, and scaling platforms, digital products, and advanced tools. This move will allow the company to expand its services from advising and executing to inventing and building.
On the other hand, Firehouse Technology is known for developing technological projects across industries and regions and was founded by Nilan Mihindukulasooriya and Nisal Karunathilaka, with a significant operations hub in Sri Lanka.
James Zipeure, group CEO of Mortar Group, stated, “Mortar had already built a strong development foundation, but Firehouse changes our scale entirely. Mortar Tech is where everything connects, strategy, creative thinking, and engineering execution, all working together in one flow. That makes us faster, sharper, and more ambitious in what we can deliver. This merger and launch will help redefine our capabilities.”
Moreover, Nilan Mihindukulasooriya, managing director of Firehouse Technology, added, “Firehouse has always been about taking bold ideas and turning them into reality for a range of enterprise clients. By merging with Mortar, we now have the platform to push that vision further. Mortar Tech will be where our engineering talent meets Mortar’s global ambition, creating products and solutions that can reshape markets. It’s about scale, but it’s also about ambition, and together we have both.”
The creation of Mortar Tech follows other recent developments for the group, with Mortar Group recently opening its first international office in Singapore to oversee strategy and market development across several major markets in Asia. With this, Shane Mitchell was appointed to lead the Asia business as APAC strategy director.
Meanwhile, Paul Sigaloff, the former chief revenue and growth officer at oOh!media and APAC head of Yahoo, was appointed as global chief customer officer in September. This role was created to help accelerate the company’s global growth and deepen its customer-first mission.
In general, Mortar Group is an independent, privacy-safe measurement platform that unifies MMM, incrementally testing, and digital tracking. It is mainly used by clients in the retail, automotive, and fast-moving consumer goods sectors.
