Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – WPP Media has appointed Winnie Chen-Head as Chief Executive Officer for Malaysia, reinforcing the company’s focus on growth and innovation in the Malaysian market.
Chen-Head officially assumed the role on 6 May. She brings more than 24 years of experience across industries including e-commerce, aviation, telecommunications, technology start-ups, and media agencies. Her background spans strategy, operations, and capability development, with a focus on people, innovation, and results-driven media strategies.
Prior to this appointment, Chen-Head held leadership roles at Omnicom and Dentsu. She also previously served as head of product, strategy and innovation at Mindshare, an agency brand under WPP Media.
Announcing the appointment, Helen McRae, CEO for Southeast Asia, Pakistan, South Africa and Taiwan at WPP Media, said:
“Winnie’s passion for media and our clients’ limitless potential for growth in the region set her apart as an inspirational leader. She is a strong advocate for rigor and craft and has a unique ability to drive marketing integration across media, culture, and creativity. Her energy and expertise will be instrumental in helping us to deliver intelligent growth and unparalleled value to our clients in the region.”
Chen-Head commented on her appointment and return to the WPP network:
“I’m delighted to be returning to the WPP network and helping to shape the next chapter together with my colleagues in Malaysia. My formative media agency years were spent here, and that experience provided me with not just a strong foundation, but a deep respect and genuine affection for what makes this place special – the people, the ambition, and the craft. That connection has stayed with me, and I feel both energised and personally invested in this next phase of transformation.
“I have always believed that meaningful impact happens when talent, creativity and technology come together with clarity of purpose, and am excited to build on that belief with the team. I look forward to strengthening our capabilities and continuing to evolve a culture that is ambitious yet grounded, innovative yet accountable, creating growth that is as commercially powerful as it is personally meaningful for all of us.”
With the appointment, WPP Media said Chen-Head will lead the company’s efforts to strengthen its capabilities and partnerships with brands operating in Malaysia, a market the company described as a key growth area in the region.
