United States – Alongside the launch of its AI-powered cancer support programme, Publicis Groupe has rolled out a campaign under its Working With Cancer movement, spotlighting the role employers can play in assisting employees diagnosed with cancer.
The campaign centres on a film created by Publicis Conseil and directed by Kailee McGee, a cancer survivor and filmmaker. The video features cancer survivors from companies including Walmart, L’Oréal, Pfizer and Carrefour, who share how continuing to work during treatment helped them maintain a sense of normalcy. It explores how employment can contribute to a more meaningful recovery while allowing individuals to preserve their dignity during treatment.
The initiative also includes a series of photographs by portrait photographer Sandro Miller, which were displayed in Times Square on 4 February to mark World Cancer Day.
Both the campaign and the AI-powered programme are informed by a review conducted by oncologist Dr. Victoria Blinder and associate professor Gina Mazza, which found that sustained employment or a return to work following a cancer diagnosis may be associated with improved health-related quality of life.
Publicis Groupe said the global campaign aims to encourage more organisations to sign the Working With Cancer pledge, expanding access to the programme. The group added that the movement currently spans more than 5,000 companies and supports over 40 million workers worldwide.
