Singapore – FairPrice Group (FPG) is giving convenience a digital passport with the launch of the new Cheers Mini App on Alipay, created through a strategic partnership with Ant International.
The app acts as a virtual concierge for Chinese tourists in Singapore, guiding them from pre-arrival planning to pre-departure shopping, while connecting them to over 180 Cheers stores islandwide.
Through the Cheers Mini App on Alipay, tourists can curate shopping lists, receive location-based tips, unlock deals, and even pick up exclusive Singapore souvenirs such as chilli crab paste or bak kwa before flying home.
Vipul Chawla, Group CEO of FairPrice Group, said, “As the nation’s largest retailer, FPG is deeply committed to making every day a little better for those we serve. Our convenience banner Cheers is key to how we keep things easy on the experience for our customers, and we are incredibly excited to kick off this first-in-Singapore partnership with Alipay+ to redefine retail for Chinese tourists.”
The partnership also widens cross-border mobile payment acceptance across more than 500 FPG outlets, including supermarkets, pharmacies and food courts, through Alipay+’s global wallet gateway, which links 18 international e-wallets and bank apps from 12 countries and regions.
“We are very proud to support FairPrice Group, the iconic Singaporean retail leader, to expand its mission for everyday citizen wellbeing and community prosperity through transforming tourism and consumer experience for one of the world’s most beloved destinations,” Peng Yang, CEO of Ant International, explained.
“AI-powered digitisation tools of Alipay+ will help our partners obtain and engage consumers in richer, more imaginative and safer ways,” Yang added.
Cheers stores are already strategically located near Changi Airport, hotel districts, and popular attractions, positioning the app as a one-stop digital map for snacks, essentials and mementos.
