Singapore — Singapore’s largest retailer FairPrice Group (FPG) collaborates with Google Cloud to launch a new generation of AI-powered retail experiences as part of its “Store of Tomorrow” program.
“At FairPrice Group, our purpose is simple: to make every day a little better for our customers. Our collaboration with Google Cloud and the launch of our Store of Tomorrow are testament to this commitment,” said Vipul Chawla, group chief executive officer at FairPrice group.
Launched at the new FairPrice Finest in Punggol Digital District, the partnership introduces agentic AI assistants built on Google Cloud’s Agent Development Kit and multimodal Gemini AI technology.
Smart Carts now feature conversational shopping assistants offering real-time product recommendations, recipe suggestions, and promotions.
Specialised AI agents—such as a digital wellness assistant and wine sommelier—provide tailored advice based on user data, NFC interactions, and inventory availability.
Thomas Kurian, chief executive officer at Google Cloud, said: “FPG’s use of these technologies—extending from the storefront to the back office—is an incredible example of how AI is driving innovation across every customer touchpoint and corner of the enterprise.”
FPG is also equipping employees with Google Cloud’s Agentspace platform to boost productivity through custom AI agents for tasks like ad creation, HR, and customer service. Early deployment has slashed creative production time and costs by up to 100x.
Executives from both companies called the initiative a blueprint for the future of retail in Southeast Asia, combining advanced AI with local relevance to enhance customer value and operational efficiency.
FairPrice Group comprises 230 outlets, including FairPrice supermarkets, FairPrice Finest, FairPrice Xtra, FairPrice Xpress and Cheers convenience stores.
