Singapore — METT Singapore has officially opened its doors at Fort Canning Park, introducing a new addition to the city’s hospitality scene. To mark its launch, the hotel released a short film titled ‘Simply Magnetic’, featuring a sunbed and pool umbrella as its central characters in a light-hearted narrative that captures the property’s laid-back charm.
Set against Singapore’s cityscape and the greenery of Fort Canning Park, the film follows the sunbed and pool umbrella as they make their way through the city before eventually finding their home by the poolside of METT Singapore. The story culminates with the line, “Some places you discover, others draw you in,” highlighting the hotel’s theme of attraction and connection.
“As we open our doors today, we wanted to capture the special energy, warmth, and magnetic draw of our METT brand for its arrival into Singapore and Asia. METT Singapore is bringing a laid-back luxury hotel experience to the city, and this film reflects the spirit of connection, effortless style, and the vibrant soul that defines METT,” said Christophe Hobeika, executive director of hotels and resorts at Sunset Hospitality Group.
Ahead of the hotel’s opening, an Instagram campaign teased the film’s release, showing the sunbed and umbrella moving through various spots in Singapore from Tiong Bahru to Lau Pa Sat, creating curiosity around the launch. The campaign film was developed in collaboration with creative agency Forsman & Bodenfors Singapore.
Michelle Co, creative director at the agency, also said, “To us, METT Singapore is more than a place to stay. We approached this film the way we would a luxury brand, something that evoked a feeling. In a world where advertising delves into inauthentic scenarios and CGI, we wanted to create a real moment. That meant tapping into creativity that was magnetic, memorable and effortlessly METT.”
Joshua Tan, senior producer at Forsman & Bodenfors Singapore, also commented, “To truly capture a feeling of authenticity and real-world charm, we doubled down on classic human-powered technological craft. We created custom-built motorised chassis for our sunbed and pool umbrella, which were operated via three remote control units. No driving licence required.”
The hotel, located within a heritage-listed property, combines colonial architecture with contemporary design. Interiors by designer Jeffrey Wilkes feature 84 light-filled rooms and suites, along with two outdoor pools, padel and pickleball courts, and a fully equipped gym with Technogym facilities.
METT Singapore will also introduce Madison House, a private members’ club focusing on social and lifestyle experiences, and The Longevity Suite, a wellness facility that merges biohacking with holistic treatments.
The property joins METT’s portfolio in Marbella, Bodrum, and Barcelona, marking Sunset Hospitality Group’s first venture into the Asia Pacific and laying the groundwork for further regional expansion.
