Singapore – In one of the world’s safest cities, a bold reminder has arrived as Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), together with VML Singapore, has launched “What Would You Do When Terror Strikes?”, a three-part SGSecure social experiment web series designed to reawaken vigilance and readiness among Singaporeans.
Through high-impact simulations of potential terror incidents—ranging from an armed intruder in an office to an unattended suitcase and a car rigged with “explosives”—the series captures real reactions from the public and local content creators.
Since its release in July, the campaign has clocked over 1.1 million views across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
“While Singapore is safe, we cannot afford to take our security for granted,” pointed Nimesh Desai, chief executive officer, VML Singapore.
“This web series reminds us that vigilance is everyone’s responsibility. Terrorism is a threat that requires a united and alert community to stand strong against it,” Desai added.
Matthias Chew, director of the SGSecure Programme Office at MHA, explained, “Precisely because Singapore is generally a safe country, the threat of terrorism may not be top of mind for many.”
“The social experiments indicate a clear opportunity to strengthen our community’s vigilance and response to potential security threats. When we stay vigilant, respond effectively, and stay united in the aftermath, we become a society that is hard to attack and impossible to break,” Chew emphasised.
Backed by a cast of familiar faces, stirring direction and candid human emotion, “What Would You Do When Terror Strikes?” trades scare tactics for self-reflection—turning the screen into a mirror of civic responsibility.
