USA – Nvidia, the AI chipmaker and processor designer, has appointed Alison Wagonfeld as its first-ever chief marketing officer (CMO), as the company positions itself for its next phase of growth.
Wagonfeld was most recently at Google, where she held a dual role as VP of Marketing and CMO of Google Cloud. She joined the company in 2016 and played a key role in Google Cloud’s growth over her more than nine years of tenure.
Wagonfeld announced her departure from Google and her new role at Nvidia on LinkedIn, saying, “After nearly 10 years of building Google Cloud from a promising start-up in 2016 to a thriving $60B run-rate business today, I will be leaving Google in late January to join NVIDIA as its chief marketing officer. I’m excited to be joining Jensen’s leadership team in a new role heading up marketing and communications as NVIDIA embarks on its next phase of growth.”
She also expressed her gratitude to Google and emphasised that, while many things have changed over the last decade, “Google’s commitment to serving customers and partners with the best technology and team has never been stronger.”
According to The Wall Street Journal, citing a source familiar with the move, Nvidia plans to consolidate marketing responsibilities that were previously spread across multiple executives under Wagonfeld’s leadership. All members of the company’s marketing and communications team will report to her when she starts in February, the source added.
Wagonfeld will report directly to Jensen Huang, president and CEO of Nvidia.
