Manila, Philippines – Online businesses operating in the Philippines have until the end of the month, September 30, 2025, to register for the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark (Trustmark), according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The requirement, outlined in a Department Administrative Order, forms part of the government’s efforts to boost consumer confidence in the e-commerce sector and is in line with Republic Act No. 11967, also known as the Internet Transactions Act of 2023.
“The mandatory registration is also a direct response to the surge in consumer concerns, with DTI recording over 13,000 complaints related to online transactions from January to August 2025,” the agency said in a statement on Thursday.
Under the law, consumers may seek compensation through the courts or the DTI if they encounter issues with online transactions. Penalties for non-compliance include a fine of PHP 1 million for a third and subsequent offence.
The DTI noted that it has already issued digital Trustmark badges to several prominent companies, including Shopee Philippines, Inc. (Shopee), Bytedance Philippines Inc. (TikTok Shop), Lalamove Philippines, Inc. (Lalamove), and LG Electronics Philippines, Inc. (LG).
Other companies that have received the badge include:
- Asahi Electrical Manufacturing Corporation (Asahi)
- Cherenz Global Mfg., Inc. (TOUGHMAMA)
- Concepcion Midea, Inc. (Midea)
- Concepcion Carrier Air Conditioning Company (Carrier)
- First Digital Finance Corporation (Billease)
- Mailtag Ortigas Corporation (DHL Express)
- Pan-Eurasia Sales Marketing Corporation (Dowell, Edamama and Tefal)
- QuadX Inc. (Gogo Xpress and ShippingCart)
- Tosot Philippines Corporation (Tosot)
“To earn and maintain a Trustmark, businesses must meet key regulatory standards, including full business disclosure, protection of consumer data, and the establishment of an internal redress mechanism to address consumer complaints,” the DTI added.
