Singapore — Samsung Electronics has announced plans to introduce Google Photos features to Samsung TVs from 2026, marking Google Photos’ first appearance on television screens. The initial rollout is expected to begin with the Memories feature, with additional tools scheduled to follow later in the year.
According to Samsung, the planned integration is intended to allow users to view and revisit personal photos on a larger screen, extending access to images typically stored on smartphones and other devices. The company also said the experience is designed to enable households to view shared photo collections together in a living room setting.
“Samsung TVs have always brought people together, and bringing Google Photos to the big screen makes that experience even more personal,” said Kevin Lee, executive vice president of the customer experience team at the Visual Display (VD) Business of Samsung Electronics.
“Through this partnership, we help users rediscover and relive cherished moments by bringing to light the stories behind their photos—right from the comfort of their living room,” added Kevin.
Under the proposed integration, Google Photos content would appear on Samsung TVs in a larger display format. Users would also be able to access curated memories organised by people, places, and events. Samsung said Google Photos would also form part of its ‘Vision AI Companion (VAC) ecosystem, which is designed to surface content contextually throughout the day.
Moreover, Samsung indicated that Google Photos is expected to be incorporated into existing TV interfaces such as Daily+ and Daily Board. Users would sign in using their Google account to enable access to their photo libraries on compatible Samsung TVs.
The companies outlined three planned features to be introduced in stages. Memories is expected to launch first in early 2026, offering curated photo stories based on people, locations, and significant moments, with six months of exclusivity on Samsung TVs. Additional features, Create with AI and Personalised Results, are planned for later in 2026.
Moreover, ‘Create with AI’ is also intended to allow users to apply themed templates to images using Google DeepMind’s Nano Banana image generation and editing model, including tools such as Remix and Photo to Video. Personalised Results would also enable users to view related photos as slideshows based on themes or subjects, such as locations or activities.
Samsung said the collaboration aims to turn television screens into a central space for browsing personal photo libraries, allowing users to explore and revisit their stored images in a shared environment.
“Google Photos is a home for people’s photos and videos, helping them organise and bring their memories to life,” said Shimrit Ben-Yair, vice president, Google Photos and Google One.
Shimrit added, “We’re excited to bring Google Photos to Samsung TVs—helping people enjoy their favourite photos on a larger screen and reconnect with their memories in new ways.”
Samsung has not confirmed specific models or markets for the initial rollout, stating only that features would be introduced progressively throughout 2026.
