Japan – Monks, the global digital and data-driven creative agency under S4Capital plc, has appointed Yohei Adachi as group creative director for Monks Japan, effective immediately.
Adachi’s career has ranged from designing for a street fashion brand in New York to leading creative teams at several well-known agencies. He has worked at BBH Tokyo and Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo, where he created campaigns for brands including Nike, Axe, Levi’s, Audi and Sony. His work spans brand strategy, digital experiences and experiential installations, with a focus on combining storytelling and design thinking to surface cultural insight. Most recently, he served as creative director at AKQA Tokyo.
In his new role, Adachi will oversee the creative development of integrated campaigns for Amazon, one of Monks’ key global partners, and is expected to contribute to the agency’s broader creative direction in Japan.
“What interested me about Monks is how they bring together creativity, data, and technology. It’s where interesting work is happening right now,” stated Adachi. “I’m genuinely excited to collaborate with the team here and across the network to create work that doesn’t just look good but truly resonates and drives real impact for our clients.”
Adachi will also work alongside Yukiko Ochiai, managing director of Monks Japan.
Commenting on the appointment, Ochiai said, “He’s [Adachi] someone who understands both craft and culture, who can bridge the traditional and the innovative. As we continue growing our partnership with Amazon and expanding our creative capabilities in Japan, his vision will be invaluable.”
The appointment adds to Monks’ ongoing efforts to strengthen its creative leadership across Asia-Pacific as it expands its work in the region.
