Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – MISC Group is bringing back its “Chart Her Course” initiative this May with an expanded immersive installation at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad, aiming to highlight opportunities for women in the maritime sector.
Running from 19 to 24 May 2026, the installation will transform the historic landmark into a six-room experience designed to simulate aspects of life at sea. The free public activation is intended to make maritime careers more visible and relatable to visitors, particularly young women and girls who may not typically consider the industry.
According to the company, the initiative was developed in response to the low representation of women in the global seafaring workforce, where women currently account for less than 2% of personnel. The project focuses on storytelling to help audiences imagine maritime careers as accessible possibilities.
The 2026 edition expands on the programme’s debut through a longer run, a larger installation footprint, and a more prominent location in the Malaysian capital. The experience is designed around real-life stories from women working in maritime, presented across themed rooms that depict different aspects of seafaring life.
The installation was developed in collaboration with Chariot Agency and event partner WE ARE KIX.
“We wanted to create an experience that doesn’t just celebrate women in maritime, but helps people imagine themselves in that world,” said Christyna Fong, Creative Director at Chariot Agency.
The activation will be open daily from 10am to 8pm, with supporting digital and DOOH promotions across the Klang Valley. Admission is free to the public.
