Manila, Philippines– The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has convened the fifth regular meeting of the Philippine Creative Industries Development Council (PCIDC), advancing key initiatives to support the country’s creative economy.
Through this meeting, the council officially endorsed the Philippine Standard Creative Classification System (PSCrCS), which will serve as the official statistical framework for the Philippine Creative Economy Satellite Account. This new system is expected to provide a uniform standard for identifying and measuring the sector, thereby enhancing data accuracy and supporting evidence-based policymaking.
Aside from the newly-endorsed system, one of the key highlights of the meeting was the presentation of activities for the upcoming Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM) this month, the ‘Malikhaing Pinoy Expo: Archipelago of Filipino Creativity’ flagship event.
The expo, organised in partnership with national government agencies, local government units, and the private sector, is scheduled to take place from September 3 to 7 at the SMX Convention Centre Aura in Taguig City.
The meeting, which took place on August 18, was chaired by assistant secretary Nylah Rizza D. Bautista, the permanent alternate representative for DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque.
According to Bautista, the PCIDC’s efforts to support the country’s creative industries can produce real change.
“This partnership is a powerful example of how government and private sector partners can work together to unlock the full potential of our creative industries,” said Bautista.
