Singapore — Canon Singapore is partnering with the National Library Board (NLB) to expand its “Cartridge Recycling Programme” from five to fifteen libraries across the nation.
This aims to significantly increases public access to eco-friendly cartridge disposal points.
In support, the initiative follows the Singapore’s ‘Zero Waste Masterplan’ by diverting used ink and toner cartridges from landfills and converting them into reusable materials.
Eric Chin, chief sustainability officer at NLB affirmed NLB’s dedication with the collaboration.
“Libraries are trusted community touchpoints, and we’re proud to offer more locations where people can contribute to environmental sustainability,” Chin said.
The program started accepting cartridges of all brands since launching in 2024. The collected materials sent to licensed facilities for dismantling and recycling.
To mark the SG60 celebrations and rally the community around environmental action, Canon has introduced the “Inkfinity” Green Pledge. The social media campaign runs from August 29 to November 14, 2025.
Participants are encouraged to snap a photo of any of the designated recycling bins, and share their personal eco pledge on Instagram. They may use the official hashtag #InkfinityGreenPledge and tag @CanonSingapore.
Andrew Koh, SVP and head of Singapore operations at Canon Singapore described the campaign as “more than a recycling effort.”
The initiative aims to promote everyday sustainability through community participation. This aligns with Canon’s “Kyosei” philosophy of working together for the common good.
“It’s a national movement to empower individuals to take simple yet impactful green actions,” Koh described.
The expansion campaign reflects strong public response to the pilot phase and a growing demand for accessible green solutions.
