United States – Roblox has introduced ‘Roblox Moments’, a new feature designed to advance user-generated content (UGC) by allowing players to capture, edit, and share gameplay highlights. The beta rollout aims to foster creativity, discovery, and self-expression across the platform.
Currently in beta, Moments enables users to record clips of their gameplay, edit them with music and descriptions, and publish them for others to discover. The feature also serves as a discovery tool, letting users react to shared content and instantly join the highlighted experiences.
Roblox noted that the launch builds on existing user behaviour, with over 930 million screenshots and 240 million videos already captured on-platform. “To empower a new form of creativity, we’re launching Moments, a Roblox experience now in beta that enables users to capture, edit, and share their most exciting gameplay moments that help others find new, diverse experiences,” the company said.
Alongside the new experience, Roblox has introduced creator tools and APIs to support in-experience content capture, editing, sharing, and discovery. The source code for Moments will also be made available later this year, allowing creators to build their own systems.
The tools are designed to go beyond short-form video, supporting future formats and enabling new opportunities for monetisation and brand integrations. Safety remains a key component, with all content subject to moderation before publication. Roblox Moments will initially be available to users aged 13 and above.
