Manila, Philippines – Asia Group Advisors (AGA), an Access Partnership company, has appointed Ricky Carandang as its Country Representative for the Philippines, strengthening the firm’s public affairs and strategic advisory capabilities in the market.
Carandang brings decades of experience across government, media, corporate communications and public policy, having advised businesses, policymakers and organisations on government relations, market entry, policy advocacy, crisis management and strategic communications since 2014.
In his new role, Carandang will lead AGA’s operations in the Philippines, advising clients on government relations, political risk, reputation management and market-entry strategies as businesses navigate an increasingly complex policy and regulatory environment.
Adam Schwarz, Founder and CEO of Asia Group Advisors, said Carandang’s experience across both the public and private sectors will enhance the firm’s ability to support clients operating in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-evolving economies.
He added that Carandang’s understanding of the Philippine political and business landscape positions him well to help organisations manage risk and identify growth opportunities.
Commenting on the appointment, Carandang said businesses increasingly require practical guidance on engaging governments, responding to policy developments and building stakeholder trust.
He noted that the Philippines continues to present significant opportunities for companies looking to expand and invest.
Carandang previously served as Secretary of the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office from 2011 to 2013 under former Philippine President Benigno Aquino III.
During his tenure, he acted as Chief Communications Strategist and participated in cabinet-level discussions covering economic policy and national security.
Before entering government, he spent a decade at ABS-CBN as a news anchor, reporter and programme host, earning recognition for his coverage of political and economic issues.
He also began his career in the financial sector, holding research and institutional sales roles at various financial institutions.
