Manila, Philippines – Southeast Asian digital finance platform Atome and Philippine digital bank Maya Bank have announced a loan channelling partnership worth ₱2.75 billion (approximately US$48 million). The initiative aims to broaden access to credit in the Philippines, particularly for underserved segments of the population.
Under the partnership, Maya Bank will provide funding that Atome will use to extend financing to eligible consumers through its platform. According to both firms, the collaboration is designed to promote responsible and transparent lending practices within the country’s growing digital economy.
“We are deeply honoured to partner with Maya Bank, a true trailblazer in digital banking,” said Christian Quiros, president & country general manager of Atome Philippines.
“Together, we are expanding access to responsible, risk-managed, and transparent flexible payment options that make more products and services truly ‘Available-To-Me’ for millions of Filipinos,” added Christian.
He also highlighted how this has been Atome’s mission: “To improve lives through greater financial access and technology, and this partnership with Maya Bank is a significant step forward in that journey in the Philippines.”
Meanwhile, Maya Bank, a licensed digital bank operating within the Maya ecosystem, will oversee the lending operations. The bank currently offers a range of services, including payments, deposits, credit, and savings, through platforms such as the Maya app, Maya Business, and Maya Centre.
“We are delighted to work with Atome in expanding credit access for more Filipinos,” said Angelo Madrid, Maya Bank President.
“This collaboration leverages digital technology to bring fast, secure, and responsible financing into the hands of underserved customers, helping them build financial confidence and long-term resilience,” Angelo continued.
Atome, launched in Singapore in 2019, initially focused on embedded financing and has since broadened its offerings to include cards, loans, insurance, and savings products. In 2024, the platform processed over US$2 billion in Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) across Southeast Asia. In the Philippines alone, the company has reported serving over 4 million Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) customers. As of June 2025, annualised GMV surpassed US$4 billion.
On the other hand, Maya Bank, which launched in 2022, has positioned itself as a leading digital bank in the Philippines. It caters to both consumers and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), offering integrated financial services via digital platforms.
The partnership is seen as part of a wider push to develop a more inclusive financial ecosystem in the Philippines, leveraging digital tools to improve financial access and resilience across diverse demographics.
