Hong Kong – Hang Lung Properties Limited has unveiled “Throwback Causeway Days”, a curated streetscape exhibition at Fashion Walk in Causeway Bay to mark the company’s 65th anniversary.
Running until October 12, the exhibition highlights Hang Lung’s role in the district’s transformation, tracing Causeway Bay’s development from its golden age as “Hong Kong’s Little Ginza” to its present as a modern commercial hub. It features four immersive installations that showcase the area’s cultural and retail heritage, including tributes to Japanese department stores, Hong Kong’s neon sign tradition, and the district’s reputation as a fashion and lifestyle centre.
To extend the anniversary celebrations, Hang Lung has also partnered with cultural enterprise Walk in Hong Kong to organise 40 guided “Throwback Causeway Days” city walks. Running until October 11, the tours cover 14 historical and commercial landmarks in Causeway Bay, including sites tied to Hang Lung’s long-standing presence in the neighbourhood.

Exclusive free tours will be available for hello Hang Lung Malls Rewards Program members.
Hang Lung’s footprint in Causeway Bay dates back to 1975 with the introduction of the Matsuzakaya department store at Hang Lung Centre. The company later expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of the former Daimaru site in 1988. Today, its Causeway Bay holdings include Hang Lung Centre and Fashion Walk, which together serve as a retail and lifestyle destination integrating shopping, dining, and community experiences.
Mikael Jaeraas, senior director – retail and Hong Kong business operation, said, “As we celebrate 65 years of growing with Hong Kong, the ‘Throwback Causeway Days’ exhibition is more than a nostalgic tribute. Our Causeway Bay portfolio continues to shape the district as an influencer in fashion, dining, and lifestyle. Fashion Walk curates dynamic streetscape experiences that connect with the local community and urban lifestyle.”
He added, “This exhibition allows us to honour our collective memories while reaffirming our commitment to revitalising Hong Kong’s retail landscape. We warmly invite everyone to join us in celebrating this milestone and rediscover the stories that have shaped our city.”
