Hong Kong – Ahead of its 80th anniversary this September, Cathay Pacific has unveiled a short documentary produced in partnership with electriclime° and BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, chronicling the airline’s journey through the experiences of employees, pilots, and passengers.
The Hong Kong-based carrier has begun marking the milestone with a retrospective look at its eight-decade history. The project is a collaboration between BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions and electriclime°, with filming carried out in Hong Kong.
The documentary traces the airline’s story through the voices of those connected to it across generations, including current and former cabin crew and pilots, customers, and back-office staff.
While key milestones provide structure to the narrative, the focus remains on personal perspectives, highlighting what Cathay Pacific has meant to those who have built, served, flown, and chosen the airline.
Contributors reflect on the airline’s evolution from its early beginnings to its role in supporting Hong Kong’s growth as a regional hub for trade and tourism in Asia.
They also note how, despite changes over the decades, its emphasis on service quality has remained central to its identity and its ‘Move Beyond’ brand positioning.
