The power of ‘local search’: How ToffeeDev’s Local SEO strategy boosted Google Maps into an optimised growth channel

In an era where local discovery starts online, ToffeeDev’s Local Boost Optimization (LBO) program has become a critical growth tool for small and medium enterprises across Asia Pacific.

The program transforms Google Maps from a static listing into a dynamic, revenue-generating channel—helping brands go from being invisible online to consistently chosen by customers searching for nearby services.

Indonesia-based ToffeeDev recognised early that many SMEs, despite strong offline performance, were being overlooked in “near me” searches.

LBO was built to close this gap, combining structured optimisation, localised content, and operational governance to ensure that every Google Business Profile not only appears accurately but also drives real-world customer engagement.

Led by its specialist local search team, the campaign demonstrated that, with the right strategy, technology can help businesses scale visibility and revenue while retaining the trust and credibility they’ve built offline.

The Challenge: The ‘Near Me’ Paradox, Bridging the Offline-Online Gap

Across APAC, customers now expect to find nearby options instantly, compare reviews and photos, and take immediate action—calling, requesting directions, or booking appointments directly from Google listings.

For multi-outlet brands in retail, F&B, and health & beauty, these profiles are no longer optional—they are often the first touchpoint for new customers.

Yet many SMEs still treat Google Business Profiles as a one-time setup task. When ToffeeDev audited local brands across Indonesia and neighbouring markets, a recurring pattern emerged.

Offline, businesses were strong, with strategic locations, trained staff, and loyal customers. Online, however, their presence was fragmented.

Duplicate or unclaimed profiles, inconsistent names, addresses, or phone numbers, outdated photos, and sporadic review responses created a visibility and trust gap.

Even well-managed businesses risked being overlooked simply because their online presence failed to reflect their quality.

For marketing teams managing multiple locations, this presented a major operational challenge: maintaining dozens of profiles across markets while keeping them accurate, consistent, and relevant to local audiences.

The Solution: Engineering the LBO Framework, From Static Listings to Strategic Assets

LBO was designed to address these challenges holistically.

The program treats Google Business Profiles as living, strategic assets rather than static listings.

It begins with a comprehensive Local Visibility Audit to assess how each outlet appears to customers, identify inconsistencies, and highlight missed opportunities.

Following the audit, profiles are rebuilt with precision. Categories and attributes are optimised based on real customer search behaviour, descriptions emphasise key services and trust signals, and photos are refreshed to reflect the authentic in-store experience.

Local nuance is built into every profile, ensuring that search behaviours in Jakarta, Singapore, or Bali are accounted for and that every outlet speaks directly to its target audience.

Reputation management is a core component.

ToffeeDev helps teams integrate simple, in-branch review collection processes, establish clear ownership for monitoring responses, and maintain consistent engagement with feedback. This increases review volume and quality, enhances trust, and strengthens performance in local search rankings.

For brands seeking accelerated growth, LBO also incorporates Google Local Ads.

Governance mechanisms ensure new outlets launch fully optimised, while ongoing reporting allows multi-outlet teams to track and benchmark performance across locations.

The combination of organic optimisation, reputation management, and paid amplification makes LBO a complete, scalable solution for local search success.

Scaling Organic Leads: How LBO Turned 10 Monthly Calls into Consistent Growth

The LBO campaign rolled out across SMEs in Indonesia and APAC using a phased, test-and-learn approach. A Bali-based dental clinic illustrated the program’s impact.

Offline, the clinic was already respected and had loyal patients, but its Google listing was virtually invisible, generating fewer than ten calls per month.

Through LBO, ToffeeDev realigned categories to match actual search behaviour, standardised contact information, rewrote descriptions to highlight trust and services, and updated photos to reflect the real clinic experience. Operational workflows ensured reviews were regularly requested and responded to.

Within three months, profile views rose by 573%, calls increased by 67%, and patient visits grew by 75%, with September alone showing 39% growth. Importantly, these results were achieved entirely through organic optimisation.

The framework remained consistent while execution adapted to local search patterns and consumer behaviour. Weekly coordination between marketing and operations ensured profiles stayed optimised and aligned across locations.

Without any paid ads, Google Maps became one of the clinic’s most cost-effective source of new patients. This Bali dental clinic case shows how a structured LBO approach focused on Rank, Reach, and Revenue can help a local service brand move from barely listed to consistently chosen in just a few months.

The Results: Quantifying Impact: Sustainable Growth Beyond the Search Bar

Local Boost Optimization (LBO) delivered measurable, sustainable impact. Across participating SMEs, Google Business Profiles achieved significant increases in visibility, engagement, and conversions.

Multi-outlet brands gained a replicable, scalable model for managing local search performance across markets, while SMEs were able to maintain accuracy, credibility, and local relevance at scale.

The program transformed Google Maps from a static listing into a reliable acquisition channel. By combining structured optimisation, local relevance, and operational governance, ToffeeDev’s LBO program enabled SMEs to be not just found, but chosen at the moments that matter most.
