Manila, Philippines – Mobile services provider Smart announced that it will now only use the full address of its official domain, https://smart.com.ph, in all of its official text blasts, a conscious move to combat text scams.
The company also advised its customers to be cautious of text messages containing suspicious links, even if they appear to be from the company. Accordingly, the mobile service provider clarified that it will only send the official link https://smart.com.ph/SimReg to numbers that have not yet been registered.
According to Atty. Roy Ibay, vice president and head of regulatory affairs at Smart, the company has stopped using shortened links for its domain or SIM registration site, “Only smart.com.ph is legitimate, and any other version is fraudulent and designed to trick customers into giving away personal information.”
This is part of the company’s intensified efforts against text scams, reporting that it has blacklisted more than 369,000 mobile numbers and prevented more than 1.7 billion scam texts from reaching customers between January and July 2025.
“We urge everyone to be extra vigilant, avoid opening suspicious links, and immediately report these attempts through our official channels so we can act against scammers,” urged Atty. Ibay.
Smart has also provided several channels for customers to report suspicious messages, including its HuliSCAM portal, official social media pages, and customer hotline.
The company also encourages customers to report to the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Centre (CICC) and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
