Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – VML Malaysia has introduced a new collaborative creative leadership structure, appointing Wendy Chiu and Suryadipura Salleh as Co-Executive Creative Directors (Co-ECDs) as the agency looks to strengthen its creative output and talent development.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, the pair will work together under an updated, more agile creative management model designed to support the agency’s focus on connected creativity and integrated brand experiences.
The appointments form part of the agency’s broader leadership framework, which also includes Chief Creative Officer Didi Pirinyuang and Executive Creative Director Phoecus Lee. According to the agency, the structure aims to enhance collaboration across brand experience (BX), creative commerce (CO), and customer experience (CX) disciplines.
“Creativity has never been a solo sport, so why should creative leadership be? In a world that’s increasingly more fragmented, collaboration and connection are the keys to realising the shared ambition of producing work that doesn’t just win awards, but wins in the real world,” said Pirinyuang.
Under the new model, Chiu and Salleh will jointly lead key creative portfolios while also mentoring emerging talent across the agency. Their partnership is intended to reinforce the agency’s creative culture and ensure stronger oversight across its expanding roster of clients.
VML said the leadership update also reflects its ambition to strengthen its position within the region while fostering a more responsive and inclusive creative environment.
“Together, Wendy and Surya will operate as the senior power couple, leading key portfolios and championing the agency’s Human First creative culture that is data-informed, technology-enabled and built to connect people, brand and business.”
