Singapore – Creative agency Connecting Plots has collaborated with Australian TikTok comedian Maddy Macrae for its latest campaign. The social stunt shows Maddy staying at Singapore Changi Airport for a week.
Sharing how Maddy will live at Changi Airport for five days, Connecting Plots’ ‘The Week-Long Layover’ showcases the airport’s offerings. It reinforces Changi Airport’s position as a destination beyond a travel hub.
Kicking off on July 28, the activation is being livestreamed on TikTok, sharing Maddy’s experience with her followers.
The campaign aims to encourage travellers from Australia and New Zealand to rethink their trip plans and consider laying over at Changi Airport as part of their itineraries.
From July 28 to August 1, Maddy is set to explore Jewel Changi Airport’s Rain Vortex, Canopy Park, the Butterfly Garden, and the Aerotel rooftop swimming pool. The influencer-led campaign is also giving Maddy’s fans a chance to join her for 24 hours in the immersive experience.
The concept is inspired by the 2004 film ‘The Terminal,’ which follows the story of a traveller getting stuck and living at New York’s JFK Airport.
“At Changi, we believe that the journey should be just as memorable as the destination. Through this campaign, we hope to inspire travellers, especially those from Australia and New Zealand, to rethink the layover and see Changi as a destination on its own,” Kelvin Ng, vice president of corporate & marketing communications at Changi Airport Group, commented.
“There’s so much to explore and travellers could easily spend many hours here and still uncover something new. We’re excited to bring this idea to life with Connecting Plots, and to partner with Maddy to showcase Changi’s unique blend of world-class experiences in a way that’s fresh, fun, and unexpected,” Ng added.
Matt Geersen, creative partner at Connecting Plots, said, “Maddy’s irreverent tone and ability to bring wild ideas to life made her the perfect partner for this campaign. This is about reimagining what an airport experience can be, turning a layover into something people would actually want to plan a holiday around.”
