Singapore – Independent communications agency Mutant has announced key appointments in Southeast Asia (SEA), strengthening its leadership team in the region. Mutant has promoted Archana Menon as country manager for Singapore and Malaysia, while Allen Looi is named head of social.
Menon’s appointment sets her to spearhead both of Mutant’s most established markets. From her previous role as country manager for Malaysia, she expands her remit to include the agency’s operations in Singapore.
She will focus on scaling revenue and strengthening the team culture at Mutant, continuing her work with regional clients.
In her previous role, Menon played a crucial role in expanding the agency’s client base while increasing its revenue. She has worked with brands like Marriott, LEGOLAND Malaysia, and PepsiCo.
Meanwhile, Looi joins Mutant from Naga DDB Tribal, where he served as head of social. At the agency, he worked with clients like KFC Malaysia, Prudential, and Resorts World Genting.
He also has experience working with IPG Mediabrands and The Coca-Cola Company, where he led social media efforts for brands like Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Nutri Boost.
Menon commented, “Mutant has always been a place that values people, bold thinking, and real impact, and I’m incredibly proud to grow alongside the business. I’m excited to take the lessons gleaned from growing the Malaysia business to a dual role across both Singapore and Malaysia. Both markets have strong foundations, ambitious teams, and amazing clients, and I look forward to driving even greater integration, creativity and growth across the region.”
“Mutant’s dynamic team is constantly pushing the boundaries of branded content, balancing storytelling with commercial success. I’m excited to continue to build on what’s been achieved and help brands create content flagships that anchor bigger campaigns, with social at the heart — not just as an amplification channel,” Looi said.
Joseph Barratt, Mutant CEO, said, “Archana has been instrumental in shaping our Malaysia business into a high-performing, people-first team that delivers both creative excellence and commercial results. Her expanded role reflects not just her own growth, but also the momentum we’re seeing across the region. At the same time, bringing Allen on board as our new Head of Social marks an exciting next chapter as we double down on integrated, content-led campaigns. Together, their leadership will be key in driving the next stage of growth across our most established markets.”
