New Zealand – Independent creative agency MONTOYA has expanded into New Zealand, building on rising client demand and a growing trans-Tasman network of talent.
Founded in 2022 by New Zealand-born creative leader Bob Mackintosh, the agency runs on a senior-led, project-based model that aims to strip away traditional agency layers and deliver “big-agency thinking without the overheads.”
MONTOYA has already worked with major brands including Air New Zealand, Les Mills and Virgin Active across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand.
“Our sweet spot sits at the intersection of culture, storytelling and technology, with a track record for developing campaigns that tap into broader cultural conversations to drive relevance and organic reach well beyond traditional advertising,” Mackintosh said.
Its recent output includes multi-market campaigns for Virgin Active in Singapore, Thailand, and the ANZ region, content initiatives for Les Mills, and regional creative for Air New Zealand.
Mackintosh, who previously held senior roles at R/GA and Host Sydney, said the model is well-suited to the New Zealand market where efficiency and effectiveness are under greater scrutiny.
“We’re seeing a real appetite for a more direct, senior-led approach that connects marketers straight to the creatives,” Mackintosh said.
Before establishing MONTOYA, Mackintosh delivered award-winning work for Nike, Coca-Cola, Shiseido and Telstra, with recognition at Cannes Lions, D&AD, The One Show and Spikes Asia.
