Singapore – Tiger® Beer unveiled a custom-built installation called TigerVAR at Boat Quay, Singapore, on 20th July, transforming a video assistant referee (VAR) screen into a hidden fridge that dispensed complimentary beer during the biggest football match of the year.

The brand distributed almost 400 complimentary Tiger® Beers and drew over 250 fans to the activation, which was developed with creative agency 72andSunny Singapore, with PR support from Devries Global Singapore, and designed to inject moments of celebration into the game’s most tense and heated flashpoints.

TigerVAR stands for “Very Appropriate Refreshment (VAR)”. During the match, when a red card was shown, the installation revealed complimentary beer to fans, turning what is typically a moment of tension into an unexpected celebration.
The activation drew on Tiger® Beer’s heritage as a brand brewed to defy the heat in Southeast Asia, extending that positioning into the emotionally charged environment of football viewing.
“Tiger® has always been brewed to defy the heat, so we asked ourselves, what does that look like in football culture?” said Sam Fielding, Global Brand Director, Tiger® Beer. “Football is at its best when fans aren’t afraid to feel every high and low, and TigerVAR gave fans a refreshing surprise exactly when emotions were running highest, it’s an example of how staying true to our brand heritage can create something that’s both culturally relevant and genuinely enjoyable.”

The activation captured unfiltered fan reactions and creator content throughout the evening, reflecting the brand’s broader effort to connect with consumers through moments they already engage with.
