Manila, Philippines —Aiming to promote Filipino talent and strengthen the connection between music, gaming, and entertainment, Sony Music Philippines has announced a partnership with the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League (MPL) Philippines ahead of the league’s Season 16 Playoffs.
According to both organisations, the partnership will pave the way for long-term projects that enhance fan engagement and create more opportunities for Filipino artists to gain visibility on a global scale. Music will play a central role in this season’s events, including live performances and theme songs that will accompany tournament highlights.
Lee Viloria, PH esports head of business development and partnerships at MOONTON Games, said, “MPL Philippines has always been about elevating Filipino talent and providing them a platform to be discovered by global audiences. Partnering with Sony Music Philippines, a global leader in entertainment, allows us to take that mission to a whole new level. It marks a major step forward in integrated entertainment and sets a precedent for future collaborations between esports and entertainment sectors.”
On the other hand, Roslyn Pineda, general manager of Sony Music Philippines, said, “Sony Music Philippines is thrilled to collaborate with prestigious esports league MPL Philippines and align our shared vision of creating experiences that showcase the best of Filipino talent. This partnership goes beyond providing exposure. It’s a celebration of youth culture, where music and esports come together to inspire creativity, connection, and self-expression.”
Moreover, Sony Music artists will perform at both the MPL Arena, which will accommodate up to 2,000 spectators, and the newly launched MPL Festival Superfan City, an event space that brings together the MLBB esports and gaming communities through themed activities and performances.
Among the featured performers are Filipino hip-hop artist Barq (Arkin Magalona), rap collective UNXPCTD, rock band Nobita, and singer-songwriter and producer Ace Banzuelo, who will perform individually across different days of the Season 16 Playoffs and the MPL Festival Superfan City.
The initiative serves as a tribute to the MPL community and its supporters as the league marks 16 seasons. MPL Philippines remains the country’s most-watched professional esports league, recently reaching a peak concurrent viewership of 1.8 million, according to data from esports analytics platform Esports Charts.
