Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Malaysia Airlines has unveiled MAYA, Asia Pacific’s first AI-powered digital cabin crew.
At the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair 2025, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s drive to blend technology with Malaysian Hospitality.
MAYA, introduced at the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) Arena in Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, is designed as a lifelike digital human who embodies warmth, service and innovation.
Her name, inspired by Malaysia’s proud heritage, symbolises grace, aspiration, and progress.
The airline said the launch highlights its commitment to enhancing passenger engagement through cutting-edge technology while reflecting its vision of becoming one of the world’s top 10 airlines by 2030.
The debut of MAYA is the centrepiece of MAG’s largest MATTA Fair showcase to date, which spans 16,000 sq ft and features immersive experiences for visitors.
According to Malaysia Airlines, MAYA is a step towards reimagining the role of the cabin crew in the digital age, offering travellers an early look at how artificial intelligence can support the customer journey.
“As Asia Pacific’s first AI-powered cabin crew, MAYA demonstrates our commitment to pioneering innovation while staying true to the values of Malaysian Hospitality,” the airline said in a statement.
The unveiling of MAYA coincides with a host of promotions across the MAG portfolio during MATTA Fair, but the airline emphasised that the new digital cabin crew signals a forward-looking approach to air travel.
