Indonesia – Unilever Indonesia has announced plans to divest its SariWangi tea business to local FMCG group PT Savoria Kreasi Rasa, as the company reshapes its portfolio to focus on higher-growth segments.
Unilever Indonesia acquired SariWangi in 1989, introducing tea bags to the Indonesian market. Since then, the brand has become a widely recognised household name.
The proposed divestment is part of Unilever’s ongoing portfolio optimisation strategy, aimed at focusing on fewer, larger, and more scalable categories to support long-term value creation.
According to DealStreetAsia, the transaction is valued at 1.5 trillion rupiah (approximately US$89.42 million), based on filings with the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX).
The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, with completion expected in the first half of 2026.
In a statement released by the company, Benjie Yap, president director of Unilever Indonesia, said, “We are confident that this transaction will position the tea business for its next phase of growth, while sharpening Unilever Indonesia’s focus on priority, higher growth segments and reinforcing our commitment to sustainable shareholder value.”
PT Savoria Kreasi Rasa is part of the Savoria Group under the Djarum Group. Established in 2016, the company operates two production sites serving both local and international markets, with brands including FOX’S, YUZU, KRIZZI, and HYDROPLUS.
