AIS partners with PGA TOUR for exclusive Thailand broadcast, marketing rights

Bangkok, Thailand – Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) has entered a strategic partnership with the PGA TOUR, securing exclusive rights to broadcast all PGA TOUR tournaments and conduct joint marketing activities in Thailand.

Under the agreement, AIS will become the sole official telecommunications sponsor for the PGA TOUR in the country. The deal covers all major events, including the FedExCup Playoffs and the Presidents Cup, which will be available legally and at what AIS describes as accessible pricing through its streaming platform, AIS PLAY. The company said it also plans to roll out activities aimed at expanding the golf fan base and supporting the development of Thailand’s golf ecosystem.

The partnership aligns with AIS’s broader strategy to position itself as a leading platform for sports and entertainment, bringing together football, tennis, basketball, American football, and now high-profile golf content under its “Comprehensive Coverage, All Sports in One Platform” approach.

Surin Krittayaphongphun, acting head of entertainment business unit of AIS, stated, “From a corporate strategic perspective, AIS recognizes the significant opportunity presented by sports as powerful magnet content. We have therefore continuously partnered with global leaders across all sports sectors to ensure a complete content portfolio on a single platform. This is aimed at elevating AIS PLAY to be the primary destination for Sports & Entertainment content for the Thai people.”

He added, “This partnership with the PGA TOUR is a crucial strategic milestone for AIS, ranging from enhancing the viewing experience by securing exclusive rights for all tournaments, to continuously driving the sports ecosystem through joint activities. We believe that this ongoing collaboration to aggregate quality sports content will foster sustainable growth for both the platform and the Thai sports industry, while also inspiring youth to step onto the global stage.”

Meanwhile, Chris Lee, senior vice president & managing director for APAC at PGA TOUR, stated, “The PGA TOUR competition represents the pinnacle of men’s professional golf, gathering the world’s best golfers to compete. Our partnership with AIS, the most comprehensive provider of sports and entertainment content in Thailand, is a significant step that will substantially expand the accessibility and popularity of our competitions in the Southeast Asian market. This collaboration ensures that Thai golf fans will fully experience the excitement of the competition, with complete, legal broadcasting rights and world-class transmission quality, via the most convenient and easily accessible platform.”

He added, “Furthermore, we are preparing to organise various activities to boost the momentum of the golf industry in Thailand. Not only does this provide value to viewers, but it also serves to inspire the youth and new generation of golfers in Thailand to aspire and advance to the global stage, just like the legendary golfers we have witnessed. This partnership is thus a vital component in driving the growth of the Thai golf industry and promoting the sport to wider recognition and popularity.”

AIS said the collaboration will support its ambition to help position Thailand as a regional hub for sports content while improving the viewing experience in terms of quality, completeness, and accessibility through AIS PLAY.
