Hong Kong – Trip.com and the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has announced that it is extending its ‘Hello Hong Kong’ campaign to the Southeast Asian markets of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This is part of  HKTB’ global ‘Hello Hong Kong campaign’, which was first introduced earlier this year to encourage travellers to visit Hong Kong.

This collaboration marks the first themed marketing campaign between Trip.com and HKTB outside of mainland China after the pandemic, and will see travellers from the four countries enjoy a discount when they make Hong Kong hotel bookings on Trip.com during the promotion period, with no minimum spend requirement.

In addition, travellers to Hong Kong who make their hotel or air ticket bookings through Trip.com can also claim a special ‘Hong Kong Night Treats’ voucher worth HKD100.

Visitors will be able to enjoy Hong Kong’s vibrant nightlife and indulge in its culinary treasures with the voucher, available for use in participating restaurants and bars across the city after 6pm – allowing them to take their taste buds on an unforgettable gourmet journey after dark.

Edison Chen, vice president of destination marketing and strategic alliances at Trip.com Group, said, “Southeast Asian travellers have traditionally enjoyed visiting Hong Kong, as shown by the visitor numbers – in the first nine months of 2023, five of the top eight short-haul visitor arrivals in Hong Kong were from Southeast Asian countries, with visitors from Malaysia growing by more than 90 times compared to the same period in 2022.”

He added, “Our Trip.com data from the same period also bears this out, with the four countries participating in the Hello Hong Kong campaign ranking in the Top 10 markets booking trips to Hong Kong. We are happy to partner the HKTB to welcome more travellers from Southeast Asia to Hong Kong.”

Hong Kong – ‘Design District Hong Kong’ (#ddHK), a creative tourism project organised by the Tourism Commission of Hong Kong, will make its return in mid-August 2023.

Curated by Way of Difference, this year’s event seeks to engage international and local creative units to liven up Hong Kong with their creativity and artistry, revamping a local neighbourhood and bringing new travel experiences to tourists and locals alike.

Under the theme ‘Vivid Tsuen Wan’, this year’s #ddHK will lead visitors to explore Tsuen Wan, a newly emerging destination in Hong Kong with multi-faceted characters evolved in an organic manner.

Continuing its mission to create new travel experiences through design and creativity, #ddHK will bring together seven internationally and locally renowned creative units to tailor-make unique and colourful time-limited public art installations for Tsuen Wan.

The participating creative units will be including creative art duo Craig & Karl (USA and UK), painter and illustrator Andy Rementer (USA), textile designer Masaru Suzuki (Japan), painter and sculptor Kila Cheung (Hong Kong), graphic designer Katol Lo (Hong Kong), installation design unit KaCaMa (Hong Kong) and ecological art and design unit Seika Studio (Hong Kong).

The art installations provided by the #ddHK artists aim to introduce the local characteristics of Tsuen Wan through innovations, to attract visitors to venture and experience the diversity and uniqueness of the neighbourhood. Various activities will also be organised through cross-sector collaboration, ranging from free themed tours, live performances to art and cultural workshops, and more.

Hong Kong – The Hong Kong Tourism Board is launching its Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival by means of offering an “offline + online format” to local and international audiences and will run from November 11 to December 15.

The Wine and Dine Festival will feature four notable events, which range from cooking masterclass and wine tasting discussions.

The first of these events would be 34 online masterclasses, catered directly to global audiences. Topics ranging from wine tasting, food plating, and fine dining will be tackled and can be accessed directly from the festival’s official website during live streams by the organizers of the festival.

Second of these events would be livestream cook-along lessons, which will include mentorship from Executive Chef Adam Wong of Forum Restaurant, Shane Osborn of Arcane and Cornerstone, and Vicky Cheng of VEA Restaurant & Lounge.

For wine lovers, audiences can tune to wine talks presented by critic James Suckling and Master of Wine Debra Meiburg, wherein they will share new wine recommendations.

Lastly, five masterclasses will be hosted by influencers that shaped the local food and beverage industry, under the theme Lady’s Talk. The classes will be hosted by Shirley Kwok of The Cakery, Head Chef Vicky Lau of TATE Dining Room, sake sommelier Jamie Lo, Master of Wine Sarah Heller, and actress-turned-winemaker Bernice Liu.

“Although the HKTB’s mega events have been suspended for some time, we are drawing on our ingenuity and resources to optimize and adapt promotions against the backdrop of a pandemic. That’s why we have decided to resume the staging of mega events, and adopt a new ‘online + offline’ format for the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival 2020. It is a new venture designed for the new normal in which we find ourselves. The HKTB is doing this to ensure people can join this annual event in spite of the pandemic, and to help our hard-hit businesses to promote their products and open up new business opportunities in these challenging times,” HKTB Chairman Dr. YK Pang stated.
