Mumbai, India — The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has launched a new investor awareness campaign, “Soch Kar, Samajh Kar, Invest Kar”, aimed at educating the public about the risks posed by fake trading apps and fraudulent investment platforms.
The initiative draws on themes from the popular sci-fi series ‘Stranger Things’, referencing the show’s ‘Upside Down’ world as a metaphor for deceptive platforms that appear legitimate but conceal significant risks. According to NSE, the comparison highlights how misleading logos, interfaces, and promotional materials can cause users to mistake fraudulent platforms for regulated ones.
The campaign encourages the public to exercise caution when engaging in online investments and to watch out for red flags such as guarantees of risk-free profits. As part of the initiative, NSE urges investors to “think carefully” before downloading any app, “understand thoroughly” whether a platform is genuine and regulated, and “invest wisely” only after verifying authenticity through trusted sources.
Digital outreach will form a core part of the programme, with campaign content to be shared on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, accompanied by broader investor education efforts across India.
NSE said it remains committed to investor protection through continued regulatory collaboration and educational resources, emphasising the need for individuals to make informed and secure investment decisions.
