Manila, Philippines – British retailer Marks & Spencer, operated in the Philippines by Rustan Marketing Specialists Inc., has announced it will close all its stores in the country on 2 May 2026.
As confirmed by STORES SPECIALISTS, INC., a wholly owned subsidiary of SSI Group Inc., in a BusinessWorld report, the cessation of the operations comes after observed changes in consumer tastes and shopping habits.
This prompted the company to redirect its resources towards brands aligned with the current and forthcoming market trends.
Describing this move as a ‘necessary step for growth’, the company disclosed, “This has not been an easy decision. Building Marks & Spencer in the Philippines has been a meaningful and rewarding chapter for our organization. We are deeply grateful to our loyal customers, dedicated employees, and partners who have supported the brand through the decades.”
The company also added that proper coordination with employees, partners, and stakeholders to ensure orderly closure leading up to May 2 will be implemented.
Currently, Marks & Spencer operates in over 70 international markets, with more than 350 stores overseas.
