Kochi, India — Nambisan’s Pure Cow Ghee has launched a new campaign that transforms the well-known Malayalam phrase “Nannaayi Varum” into a distinctive brand platform, connecting the product more closely with everyday food moments and local culture.
The campaign supports the brand’s new philosophy, “Makes Good Food Great,” shifting the focus away from traditional category messages around purity and heritage towards the role food plays in family life, culture, and emotional connection.
Widely used across Kerala as a blessing meaning “Everything will turn out well,” the Malayalam phrase “Nannaayi Varum” is given a new interpretation in the campaign’s series of films.
In each story, characters believe the blessing is directed at them, only to discover it refers to a dish being prepared with Nambisan’s Pure Cow Ghee.
The humorous misunderstanding reinforces the brand’s message that food prepared with Nambisan’s ghee is more likely to turn out well, while keeping the storytelling grounded in familiar cultural experiences.
Set in everyday Kerala environments, the campaign highlights common family interactions, local food traditions and moments that feel instantly recognisable to Malayali audiences.
By building the campaign around a phrase already embedded in local culture, Nambisan’s aims to strengthen its emotional connection with consumers while creating a more distinctive identity in a crowded ghee market.
Commenting on the campaign, Vivek Nambisan, Managing Director, Nambisan’s Dairy Pvt. Ltd., said, “‘Nannaayi Varum’ is much more than a campaign line for us. It is a phrase that Malayalis instinctively understand, and one that reflects the trust people have placed in Nambisan’s for generations.”
“With this campaign, we wanted to build on our new philosophy of ‘Makes Good Food Great’ and give this familiar blessing a delicious new meaning. One that celebrates great food, tradition, and the confidence our consumers place in our ghee,” added Nambisan.
Rins Panicker, Co-Founder, Stealth Mode Brand Communications said, “The beauty of ‘Nannaayi Varum’ lies in its simplicity. It is already part of Kerala’s everyday vocabulary. We didn’t invent a slogan. We chose a phrase that people already use, and reinterpreted it in a way that’s warm, and memorable.”
“We wanted the campaign to not only stand out, but also feel culturally rooted and emotionally resonant,” concluded Panicker.
The campaign reflects Nambisan’s broader effort to position itself not only as a cooking ingredient, but as a brand that enhances everyday food experiences and celebrates the traditions surrounding them.
