Bangkok, Thailand – Ride-hailing platform Bolt has launched a browser-based game that allows users to experience the realities of car ownership without the financial costs or long-term commitment.
The game features four simulations reflecting common driving frustrations: sitting in a traffic jam, washing a car only for birds to undo the effort, parallel parking under watchful eyes, and refuelling on a limited budget.
The initiative draws on data from the INRIX 2025 Global Traffic Scorecard, which ranks Bangkok among the most congested cities globally.
According to Sugandha Bhandari, senior regional PR manager at Bolt, the company developed the game to help consumers visualise the real-world implications behind traffic statistics.
“Traffic statistics can feel abstract, but losing more than three full days of your year sitting in traffic is something people in Bangkok know all too well. The Car Ownership Simulator makes those hours tangible in a way statistics alone cannot, and gives people a consequence-free way to test whether owning a car is really worth it.”
Bolt said the game was created to encourage consumers to reconsider private car ownership by highlighting its hidden costs, while positioning shared mobility as a more practical and flexible way to get around the city.
