Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – GO Communications has appointed Andreas Vogiatzakis as its non-executive chairman, marking a new leadership addition for the independent Malaysian agency as it reaches its 20th year of operations.
The appointment brings Vogiatzakis, a senior industry executive with experience across global media agencies and multinational markets, into a governance role at GO Communications. He previously served as group CEO of Star Media Group and has held leadership positions with major media networks including Publicis, GroupM, Omnicom and Havas Media Group across the United States, Greece, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia.
Peter de Kretser, co-founder and CEO of GO Communications, described the appointment as both strategic and personal.
“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Andreas for a long time and have always admired the clarity of his thinking and his influence as a natural leader. His experience spans continents and cultures from New York to Tokyo to Kuala Lumpur – sometimes even Havana – and that global perspective is invaluable,” he said.
“The last few years have seen GO travel on a meteoric upward trajectory, but we’re not here to simply stand still. Andreas’ influence, guidance and leadership will undoubtedly embellish our journey and elevate what’s possible for GO and the GO Group internationally as we move with our best foot forward,” he added.
Throughout his career, Vogiatzakis has been recognised for driving commercial growth as well as for developing organisational culture, talent and leadership during periods of transformation. In his new role, he will provide strategic counsel to GO Communications’ board and leadership team, with a focus on long-term direction and human capital development.
His mandate includes strengthening people-centric leadership within the agency amid increasing adoption of AI, automation and digital technologies. Alongside advising on organisational strategy, he will also draw on his experience as a certified executive coach and founder of leadership advisory platform AMV+.
Commenting on his appointment, Vogiatzakis said the role aligned closely with his professional values and long-standing relationship with the agency.
“For me, this is a proud career-defining moment, and taking up the role was a very natural decision for me. I’ve known Peter long before GO Communications even existed, and I understand the company’s DNA very well, including its ambition, its tenacity and grit, and its commitment to telling stories that continue to shape and influence the industry landscape,” he said.
“When the world is increasingly being defined by AI and technology, we must never forget that it is human thinking, empathy and judgment that make a unique difference. GO already has incredible talent, so my role is to embellish that, by sharpening minds and elevating the company’s leadership to ensure the agency continues to grow with purpose and integrity. This is essentially a dream role for me, as I’ll be returning to my ‘alma mater’,” he added.
GO Communications said the appointment reflects its continued focus on long-term leadership, culture and people development as it expands its presence in Malaysia and across the wider GO Group internationally.
