Singapore – Tay Guan Hin, most recently the creative chairman at BBDO Singapore and of the BBDO Asia Creative Council, has left the agency as he joined The One Club in the newly created position of APAC Regional Director for awards, programs, and partnerships.

In his new role, he will be responsible for elevating all of the club’s awards, programming, partnerships, and membership in the region, primarily focusing on growing the ONE Asia Creative Awards and supporting a thriving regional creative community. 

Moreover, he will also enhance the organisation’s visibility by establishing strategic partnerships with agencies, brands, production companies, creative associations, schools, and media in APAC, and developing regional events and educational programs.

In addition to founding TGH Collective, a successful independent creative boutique agency, his experience includes serving in regional and global agencies such as Wunderman Thompson, Grey, Leo Burnett, and Saatchi & Saatchi for blue chip clients like Visa, Unilever, Audi, HSBC, Nestle, Shell, Abbott Nutrition, and Johnson & Johnson.

Speaking on his new role, Guan Hin said, “Having spent years in global network agencies, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible talent we have across the Asia-Pacific region. New York – The One Club for Creativity has launched its NFT collection which will be given to its special awards winners. This will be awarded in addition to its iconic physical One Show 2022 Pencils to this year’s winners.

One NFT will be minted for each winner of a One Show Special Award, including ‘Best of Show’, ‘Best of Disciplines’, ‘CMO Pencil’, ‘Green Pencil’, ‘Fusion Pencil’, ‘SDG Pencil’, and global ‘of the Year’ winners.

The assets are utility NFTs, which qualify the holder to a series of perks and special offers including nominations for future One Show juries, complimentary tickets to One Club events, opportunities to speak at club events, exclusive access to One Club content and board members, and more.

The NFTs are minted on the VAST platform, which is powered by Polygon. They are automatically ‘mirrored’ to the wallet holder’s account on OpenSea, meaning One Show Pencil NFTs can be openly traded on the secondary market via VAST or OpenSea with the same eco-friendly smart contract.

Mumbai, India – After a two-year hibernation, Portfolio Night is back in-person with a bang! This event by The One Club for Creativity, a global nonprofit organisation whose mission is to support the global creative community, was conducted worldwide, in different cities. For India, the Portfolio Night 2022 was held in Mumbai last 2 June 2022, and saw 55 new creatives show their work to a jury panel of the industry’s best creative minds. 

The global event was co-hosted by three Omnicom agencies, namely DDB Mudra Group, BBDO India, and TBWA\India. Meanwhile, the event’s panel comprised seventeen creative leaders from Indian advertising, who steered the fast-paced evening of advice, networking, and recruitment opportunities for new creative talent. It kicked off with an opening address by Josy Paul, Chairman, BBDO India. A rigorous 3-hour portfolio review session followed this.

Rahul Mathew, DDB Mudra Group’s chief creative officer, said, “This Portfolio night was much needed. Not just for new talent, but for us senior folks as well. We fed off their excitement and energy as they gathered our opinions and directions around their work.”

Meanwhile, Paul commented, “You could feel the shared passion and expectation in the fast-paced face-to-face interactions. All of us had left something to follow something we love, our creative calling. And you could feel that excitement and love in the room.” 

He also said, “I was looking for the person in the portfolio and I was thrilled that I met many young folks with a unique voice and a different view. Portfolio Night was a waterfall of pure creative energy.”

The three Omnicom agencies also co-hosted an online pan-India Portfolio Night last 1 June 2022 for those outside of Mumbai.

Portfolio Night has long been known for reviewing advertising portfolios since 2003. It serves as a stepping stone for younger talent to enter the advertising profession, allowing hundreds of renowned international creative directors to meet and train the future leaders in industry centers around the world.

As the advertising world tunes in to this one-of-a-kind event, it has also become a critical tool for agencies in attracting top young talent, providing a platform for recognition from local industry peers, and giving agencies a presence on the global stage.

In addition, Portfolio Night All-Stars, where each city host selects one young creative in their market with the finest portfolio. The All-Stars will then work together for a week this summer on a creative project for a large global brand.

New York, USA – Tony Gulisano, the global chief growth officer at The One Club for Creativity has passed away at the age of 70, the non-profit advertising organisation announced. Gulisano passed away in New York on March 25.

Gulisano played a key role in growing international visibility and industry involvement for the nonprofit organisation’s global programming. He helped start and run the club’s ONE School free portfolio program for Black creatives and ONE Production diversity program, as well as its monthly “A Creative Perspective” video series featuring the views of some of the industry’s most interesting and celebrated creatives.

He entered the industry in 1982 with the Clio Awards, where he spent 26 years and served as managing director. After four years of consulting with London International Awards, he joined The One Club in 2015.

In addition, he played a significant role in annual jury selection for The One Show, ADC Annual Awards, and One Asia Creative Awards, and was pivotal in assembling 21 global creative leaders to serve on the club’s latest International Board of Directors, announced last week.

Kevin Swanepoel, CEO at The One Club, said, “Tony was one of the most influential people in the creative community who never looked for the spotlight himself. He was the absolute nicest, most selfless person who never asked for anything except how he could help others, which he did over the past four decades for so many creatives around the world.” 

He added, “I’m very fortunate to have had Tony as a close colleague, trusted confidant and advisor, and very dear friend. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, we will miss him greatly.”

In his honour, The One Club has established the Tony Gulisano Memorial Fund. Donations will go to support the club’s ONE School and ONE Production programs, as well as shared with his family. In addition, The One Club will pay tribute to Gulisano at The One Show 2022 awards ceremony on May 20 during Creative Week in New York, and host an event for the industry to celebrate his life in the summer.

New York, USA – The One Club for Creativity, a global nonprofit organisation whose mission is to support the global creative community, has announced its latest lineup of board members, nine of whom hail from the Asia-Pacific region.

The APAC board members are namely Swati Bhattacharya, creative chairperson at FCB India; Reed Collins, CCO for APAC at Ogilvy; Tay Guan Hin, CCO at BBDO Singapore, and Thomas Hongtack Kim, CCO at RE-BE in Seoul. Other members include Steve Jackson, co-founder at Milk & Honey United; Kentaro Kimura, international CCO and corporate officer at Hakuhodo and founder at Hakuhodo Kettle; Kelly Pon, CCO at BBH China; Jureeporn Thaidumrong, creative chairperson and CCO at GREYnJ UNITED; and Richard Yu, regional CCO at ADK Taiwan.

Board members are responsible for providing input and feedback on the club’s ongoing global programming, elevating The One Show and ADC Annual Awards in rankings in their regions, connecting the club with advertising and design universities and schools, and recommending outstanding candidates to serve as awards judges.

New York, United States – The One Club for Creativity, a global non-profit organization that supports and celebrates the creative community, has elected Glenn Cole, the co-founder and creative chairman of full-service advertising agency 72andSunny, to be its board chairman.

Previously vice-chair, Cole replaces FCB Global CCO Susan Credle, whose term ends this month. Meanwhile, board member Pum Lefebure, the co-founder and CCO of design-centric agency Design Army, moves up to the role of vice-chair.

Both will be responsible for providing input and feedback on the club’s dozens of annual education, professional development, and inclusion, as well as diversity and gender equality programs, serving as an ambassador to the creative community and schools, and recommending outstanding candidates for awards judges.

Cole and Lefebure were elected by votes of the current Board, and will each serve three-year terms. They will officially assume their new roles in a special transition ceremony during The One Club’s global Creative Week 2021, taking place from 7 to 11 June.

Commenting on his new role, Cole said that he and Lefebure, along with the Board, plan to build on Credle’s progress by creating even more opportunities and on-ramps, blowing up more barriers and boxes, and dialing up creative inspiration.

Meanwhile, Lefebure said, “Obviously, I want to bring design-forward, but I also want to include more creative disciplines like UX and UI, typography, product creation, game design, music, fashion, and new kinds of arts, as well as celebrate brands that are driven by creativity,” said Lefebure.
