China – Omnicom Media (OM) agency OMD has appointed Maggie Mu as CEO and Laura Liang as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in China, strengthening its leadership team as it looks to accelerate growth, sharpen strategic capabilities, and expand its AI-enabled client offering.

As CEO, Maggie will oversee the agency’s strategic direction, business operations, and organisational development. She will lead efforts to strengthen cross-functional collaboration across OMD China while supporting clients as they navigate an increasingly complex marketing landscape. Her remit also includes advancing the agency’s AI-enabled capabilities by bringing together strategy, media, technology, and business functions.

Maggie joins OMD with leadership experience across brand marketing, communications, commercial strategy, digital platforms, and business transformation. Before joining the agency, she held senior leadership roles at Amazon, where she focused on marketing innovation, customer lifecycle growth, and AI adoption across marketing operations. She has also held management positions at Uber, JCDecaux, and Ogilvy.

Meanwhile, as COO, Laura will oversee operations, cross-functional collaboration, and service delivery across OMD China, with responsibility for improving operational effectiveness and supporting consistent client service standards.

Laura brings experience in brand strategy, client leadership, marketing technology, and organisational management. Since joining Omnicom Media China in March, she has worked on strengthening client leadership, talent development, and collaboration across teams. Previously, she held leadership roles at DDB Group China, McCann Worldgroup, Ogilvy APAC, TBWA, BBH, and Kantar, as well as senior positions focused on product innovation and commercialisation in the technology and content intelligence sectors.

The appointments support OM China’s integrated strategy, which brings together talent, data, and technology to strengthen its client offering in the market.

Charlotte Lee, President, OMD APAC, said, “The future of our industry will be shaped by leaders who can successfully connect creativity, technology, data and commercial outcomes. Maggie and Laura bring that rare combination. Their experience across brands, platforms, and media ecosystems, together with their passion for innovation and transformation, makes them exceptionally well-positioned to lead OMD China into its next chapter.”

She added, “As clients increasingly seek partners who can unlock growth in the AI era, Maggie and Laura will play a pivotal role in strengthening OMD’s ability to deliver connected, future-ready solutions that will help our clients navigate change, drive business opportunities, and ultimately create what’s next for them.”

Both appointments take effect immediately, with Maggie and Laura reporting to Joey Zhao, CEO of Omnicom Media China.

According to Joey, client expectations of agency partners today differ from those a few years ago. “Growth is increasingly shaped by a combination of market complexity, technological change and shifting consumer behaviour, which requires a different kind of leadership and organisation. The appointments of Maggie and Laura reflect how we are preparing OMD China for that future,” he said.

He added, “Maggie brings deep experience across brands, platforms and business growth, while Laura has a strong track record in operational leadership and organisational development. Together, they bring complementary strengths that will further enhance OMD’s capabilities. China remains one of the most important markets for Omnicom Media globally, and I am confident that Maggie and Laura’s leadership will reinforce OMD China’s reputation as a trusted growth partner for our clients.”
