Singapore – S.E.A. Aquarium, located at the Resorts World Sentosa, has announced a collaboration with popular game title Genshin Impact, marking a first-ever partnership between Genshin Impact and an aquarium. The partnership will feature an exclusive, one-of-a-kind event called the Teyvat SEA Exploration that will take place from 12 September to 28 October.

The experience will feature a beloved and newly-launched Genshin Impact character, Sigewinne, who hails from the underwater in-game area of the Fontaine region in Teyvat. 

This collaboration will also feature the magic of Genshin Impact’s fantastical underwater region with the beauty of marine life at S.E.A. Aquarium, while raising awareness on marine biodiversity and highlighting the importance of ocean conservation.

Moreover, the collaboration experience will also include a one-day access to S.E.A. Aquarium, an interactive stamp rally with a collectible stamp rally passport, photo opportunities enhanced with Genshin Impact game elements, special guest cosplayer appearances on select days, amongst others.

“Through this collaboration, S.E.A. Aquarium aims to foster a love for marine animals among Genshin Impact fans and promote an understanding of marine conservation, while bringing to life one of Teyvat’s amazing regions,” S.E.A. Aquarium stated in a press statement.

It is worth noting that this isn’t first the time Genhsin Impact has announced a collaboration to promote sustainability. The game recently teamed up with Discovery Channel for a documentary as well as a series of online and offline events dedicated to raising awareness for a variety of fragile natural habitats and inspiring awe for the beauty of nature.

Singapore – Alipay+, Ant International’s cross-border mobile payment digital platform, announced that it has enabled new e-wallets in Singapore and expanded its partnership with Resorts World Sentosa(RWS) to accept more cross-border mobile payments in preparation for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Through this expanded partnership, more tourists visiting Resorts World Sentosa(RWS) will now be able to pay with their home e-wallets, with Alipay+ enabling the use of six new e-wallets namely, Hipay (Mongolia), MPay (Macao SAR, China), MyPB by Public Bank (Malaysia), Toss Pay and Naver Pay (South Korea), and Tinaba (Italy).

RWS is amongst the first of Alipay+ merchants in Singapore to accept 12 international e-wallets, which can be used at all its attractions and stores. The previously accepted e-wallets include AlipayHK (Hong Kong SAR, China), GCash (Philippines), Kakao pay (South Korea), Touch n’ Go eWallet (Malaysia), TrueMoney (Thailand) and others, in addition to Alipay (Chinese mainland), which has been accepted by RWS since 2015.

This partnership to accept more Alipay+ partner payment apps, will welcome Chinese and Asian tourists in a more efficient manner, enabling them to have a more seamless, enjoyable experience at RWS.

To better serve the expected increase in tourists during Chinese New Year, RWS and Alipay+ are jointly launching a festive campaign exclusively for Alipay users, where they can access special promotions and privileges within the Alipay app.

To start, RWS is offering a virtual RMB$128 red packet to Alipay users who can collect it via the Alipay app, which can be used to offset payments for the RWS Mini program and on-site payments.

Alipay is also a key payment partner for RWS’ ‘Bai Jiu Shake Up’ event, where Alipay users can enjoy Bai Jiu cocktails with their Chinese New Year dinners at restaurant table65, and CHIFA! where dinner is paired with Bai Jiu cocktails specially created by Bar Sanyou. Alipay users can also enjoy a further RMB$150 discount for the event when they collect the red packets online.

The partnership will also see both parties jointly introducing campaigns for other Alipay+ partner users throughout the year.

Singapore – The board of directors of Genting Singapore has approved a S$6.8b investment to propel its integrated resorts brand Resorts World Sentosa as a premiere tourist destination in Asia.

“We are confident that this investment will firmly anchor RWS as the most sought-after tourism destination in Asia, and propel the Group’s strong future growth. This investment will be funded through internal resources,” the company recently stated.

According to the company, its development on The Waterfront has received government’s provisional permission with construction set to commence in 2024. Moreover, it will comprise approximately 700 hotel keys and experiential  lifestyle content in a captivating blend of biophilic architecture that is designed by award winning firm Benoy.

In addition, the transformation of the Forum, the Minion Land in Universal Studios Singapore and the Singapore Oceanarium spaces are progressing well and expected to soft open in early 2025.

The new announcements comes after Genting Singapore recently announced the results of its third business quarter earnings, which saw benefit from the sustained recovery of travel and tourism as it grew 31% quarter-on-quarter to $350.4 million.

Singapore – Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore’s top integrated resort, has named its new Deputy CEO, Lam Yi Young. It said the appointment strengthens RWS’ leadership and management bench to drive sustainable growth. 

As Deputy CEO, Yi Young will assist RWS CEO, Tan Hee Teck, in the execution of the strategies, management, and development of the business, and ensure effective day-to-day operational performance and organisational excellence. Yi Young brings with him a wealth of experience, including 11 years in senior public sector leadership positions. His most recent role is as CEO of the Singapore Business Federation. The role is effective January 2023. 

Alongside Lam, RWS has also appointed its chief casino officer, Andrew MacDonald. Ex- Las Vegas Sands MacDonald will oversee the overall casino business at RWS.

“We welcome [Mr.] Lam and [Mr.] MacDonald as RWS continues its journey of recovery and transformation to deliver best in class tourism destination experience,” said the company.

Resorts World Sentosa is located on Singapore’s resort island of Sentosa and is home to attractions Universal Studios Singapore, S.E.A. Aquarium, Dolphin Island, and Adventure Cove Waterpark.
